How to Get Use to Your New Work Surrounding You have just been hired and you have no friends, and you are unfamiliar with your surroundings. You have a great desk and a window that gives you a great view of the city.

You need to do some unique in the office. When people come into your office you will have several interesting conversation pieces. That makes everyone comfortable.

You may feel a little afraid and frighten that you might make the wrong decision. You may even doubt yourself a little.

You might need some guidance. That is what an Human Resources department is for. It should be the icebreaker for you. However, if there is no HR then you have to rely on the person or persons that hired you.

Look on the bright side, and just take the following steps. First, retrace your hiring steps. Recall the person that you interviewed first, next the person that trained you or is continuing to train you. Rethink the things that you have learned. Play them over as if it were a mental movie. For the next few months make it a habit to retrace your steps and review daily.

Make sure you know where the lunch room and bathroom services are located. In fact, picture your office, your desk and the people you come in contact with on a daily basis. This would be a great mental practice. You could even put their pictures on flash cards and review them daily. Rewrite your duties daily. This exercise will empower you.Try to get to know the names of as many people as possible at work.

Introduce yourself if no one does. Knowing the names of your bosses and the movers and shakers would be an added plus. Understand and know their job duties. Make sure you collect all literature about the company. Especially, learn about extra sports activities that your company sponsors. If you do not play sports, that is okay you can become a support member. Show up at the events.

Join any after work activities that you can handle. Based on your time schedule and family obligations, volunteer and become known.

Write articles, books and contribute as much of yourself as you can.

These are some of the paths you should take in order to become known at your company. Give people an excuse to say hello or introduce themselves. Life is too short to be mean and not share yourself. "No man is an island unto himself."
