6 Tips and Ideas for Frugal Gift Giving

6 Tips and Ideas for Frugal Gift Giving During a slow economy we are all looking for ways to cut down on expenses even during the holiday season. Hopefully using some of these tip and ideas will help you in that endeavor.

[1] Wrap a pretty wash cloth and face towel together. Tag it with a card you have signed, stating "I hope you enjoy your new washer and dryer" and draw a smiley face. This could also be given with a dish cloth and tea towel. I'm sure you will come up with many combinations that would fit this idea.

[2] Give a Family Movie Package to families with small children. Include a gift card for a movie rental, 2 or 3 microwave popcorn packages, a 2 liter drink and one of those large Hershey candy bars for them to share. Everyone in the family, including the pet, will be happy to get this gift.

[3] If you have a plant lover on your list, round up 4 or 5 back scratchers, spray paint them all one color or leave them natural. The plant lover can use them as a support system for their larger plants. You might also want to add a package of pipe cleaners in case they have to tie up a stem or two.

[4] I'm sure any car lover would like a water bucket with an assortment of cleaning supplies. For 10 dollars or less, you can find enough of these items at your local dollar store to fill your gift bucket.

[5] A pet owner would love your old blankets, towels or t-shirts [make sure they have been laundred] to use for their outside pets on cold winter nights. Add a bag of food or treats for their pets and you'll get a big thank you.

[6] For your older family members, make a coupon book. Include things like a trip to the grocery store, or pick up their dry cleaning, taking them to a movie, a day of cleaning the attic or room of their choice. Do one or more for each month of the year so they will know they will have your undivided attention for that time period. You may want to buy an inexpensive calendar to use as a reminder of the gift by marking the dates you would be available to carry out your gift.

With a little thought and care all of us can come up with helpful caring frugal gifts for the ones we love.
